Who? NEOCHMM Members, Family, kids and Friends---all are welcome!

(sign-up by calling Mark Baumgardner 330-864-5560 to aid us in planning, but in any case, you can just show up at the event !)

When ? Saturday May 9, 2015---8:30 AM--12 NOON

What ? For the Twelfth Consecutive Year, we will partner with the West Creek Conservancy ("WCC") to beautify the upper reaches of West Creek. This year we will be planting tree cuttings and removing invasive species around the plantings from last year. We will also do a general clean-up of the area.

West Creek crosses West Pleasant Valley Road just west of Broadview Road in the back of the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center in Parma. West Creek is tributary to the Cuyahoga River.

Where? We will meet and park in the SE corner of the Giant Eagle Parking Lot. Giant Eagle 7400 Broadview Road in Parma, Ohio 44131 is a large supermarket located back off the west side of Broadview Road, just north of the intersection of Pleasant Valley. There will be others from West Creek also parking there. Enter from the north driveway off of Broadview Road and you will see the sign-in tent. We will need to sign-in at the tent , get a T-shirt and sign a waiver before heading out for the planting. We will then car pool around the corner, behind 1450 West Pleasant Valley Road and behind the car wash to complete the plantings.

Why? This is our annual "hands-on" service project that is done in one half day. Most environmental groups coordinate their efforts on this day to have a greater impact on the region. RiverSweep is coordinated through the Ohio Canal Corridor Association.

How? Wear old clothing in layers. Wear Hiking Boots or Rubber Boots as the flood plain areas will be soft or muddy. We will be handing out gloves, rods and rubber mallets in order to drive the pilot holes. We will have the cuttings ready to plant. Refreshments will be provided.

More ! Check our website www.neochemm.org for frequent updates or callMark Baumgardner at 330-864-5560, if you can attend or need more information. A message with a cell phone number will be on that phone on the day of the event. In the event of lightning or heavy rain, call that number to verify the event will be rescheduled.
