Brecksville, OH - On Thursday July 22, 2010, Scott Broski, Manager at North East Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) Water Quality & Industrial Surveillance (WQIS) department provided a presentation on the General Environmental Management (GEM) facility in Cleveland's Flats, where a major explosion occurred on Thursday April 20th, 2006. Scott's presentation also included emergency response with the GEM incident as the focus and a few other large case studies.
Scott Broski has a BS in Biology (Biochemistry) from Syracuse University and MBA from Cleveland State. He has been with NEORSD for 16 years including seven years supervising the enforcement group (industrial monitoring/industrial pretreatment program [IPP]). Scott is also on the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) Pretreatment & Pollution Prevention Committee and the Northeast Section Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA) Pretreatment Coordinator Training Committee.
There were a lot of questions and participation from the audience during and after the presentation. The attendees definitely learned a lot regarding NEORSD emergency responses and other facets of work. NEOCHMM would like to thank Scott Broski for taking time from his busy schedule to provide the presentation. NEOCHMM also appreciate Scott's willingness to avail himself or others in his organization to make a similar presentation in the future.
