For the November NEOCHMM meeting, Jennifer Kurko, OEPA NEDO Assistant Chief, came and spoke about updates at the agency. While the day to day operations were discussed the most interesting portion of the talk was on the being developed OEPA training program. With the realization that the workforce was nearing retirement ages, the agency has been developing a training program that all of the work force will go through. It will help the work force have a common basis of understanding what they are investigating, supporting and regulating. Getting the program set up and completely developed is a hurdle the agency needs to complete by early 2017 and then allotting the time to ensure the staff is able to attend in 2017 is the second hurdle. Long term, this is a very important and significant training.
